FOXFIELDS ACADEMY PUPILS ‘TOP OF THE LEAGUE’ WITH NEW MINIBUS

Foxfields Academy are celebrating after being presented with a new Variety Sunshine coach, sponsored by the Premier League.

We opened last October with an exciting curriculum directed towards preparing pupils to be confident and successful individuals who make outstanding progress and are prepared for life after school.

Yet opportunities to experience enrichment activities outside of school have been difficult to organise, partly due to the pandemic but also with a lack of transport to take pupils beyond the village of Blaby.

However, children’s charity Variety and the Premier League combined forces to sponsor Foxfields’ first minibus, raising funds through their annual Variety Golf Day which took place on Thursday 24th June.

Hosted by 1991 Masters champion and former world number one, Ian Woosnam OBE, a wealth of famous faces from sport, business and entertainment came together for a day of thrilling golf action.

Participants included Dan Walker, Kriss Akabusi, Darren Gough, Len Goodman (Variety Golf Captain 2021) and a number of former professional footballers.

James Ellis, Headteacher of Foxfields, explained:

“It’s fantastic to have the funding towards a minibus as it will ensure that our children can access activities in the community that they would not normally have the opportunity to experience. They will also be able to partake in a greater number of sporting events, including fixtures against other schools.

We would like to say a huge thank you to the Premier League and Variety Golf for their generous support.”
