Mindfulness is the ability to be fully present in the moment, it helps train your attention to be more aware of what is actually happening, rather than worrying about what has happened or might happen. Mindfulness has numerous benefits from decreased stress and sadness to increased levels of focus and happiness.
Foxfields’ mindful approach encourages our pupils to connect more with the world around them, be more open with the people around them as well as instilling empathy and providing the necessary tools to increase their emotional intelligence. This opportunity is provided to all pupils through a daily mindful break in which pupils engage in mindfulness activities such as; guided meditation, nature walks, deep breathing, muscle relaxation, mindfulness games, yoga, mindfulness colouring and crafts.
We are committed to increasing our pupils’ mindfulness toolkits by ensuring they understand the meaning and purpose of mindfulness, and are attuned to their body and emotions. This is to enable our pupils to independently recognise the positive impact mindfulness has.
