Celebrating a Fantastic Summer Term at The Parks

As another school year comes to a close, we have been reflecting on what has been an incredible final term at The Parks. Our students have embraced every opportunity, challenged themselves, and created memories that will stay with them for years to come.

This term, two of our Year 5 students have continued attending mainstream Maths lessons with Mr Goode, developing their understanding of division, fractions and multiplication. It has been wonderful to see the progress they have made, with both students achieving fantastic assessment results. Alongside their Maths learning, they have enjoyed taking part in a range of mainstream experiences, including fire and road safety talks, baking chocolate bread and other exciting classroom activities.

Another of our Year 5 students has also begun attending mainstream English lessons with Mr Goode. They have explored exciting texts such as Tuesday and Percy Jackson, producing some fantastic work along the way. A particular highlight was taking part in a Greek-themed day, where they stepped into the roles of Greek gods and enjoyed a range of creative activities, as well as cooking sessions.

Our Year 6 student has continued to make excellent progress in mainstream Maths lessons with Miss Whitehurst. One of the biggest highlights of the term was taking part in the Year 6 production, Porridge Pot Play. Watching them grow in confidence through rehearsals, dance routines and acting was a proud moment for everyone. The rest of the class thoroughly enjoyed watching the performance, and we look forward to celebrating with them again during the Leavers’ Assembly and Leavers’ Disco.

We have also enjoyed some fantastic whole-class experiences. Our trip to Twinlakes was a well-deserved reward for an excellent year and gave everyone the chance to have fun together outside the classroom. Many of our students also represented the school at De Montfort Hall as members of the school choir, performing songs including Mr Blue Sky. They sang brilliantly and were outstanding ambassadors for our school.

Teamwork and determination were on full display during Sports Day, with our students taking part at both Foxfields and Hinckley Parks. It was fantastic to see them competing alongside students from the main school, encouraging one another and celebrating each other’s successes.

As we reach the end of the year, we also prepare to say goodbye to three of our wonderful Year 6 students as they begin their next adventure. While we will miss them enormously, we are incredibly proud of everything they have achieved and know they have bright futures ahead. We wish them every success as they take this exciting next step.

It has truly been a term, and a year, to celebrate. We would like to thank all of our families for their continued support throughout the year and wish everyone a wonderful, safe and relaxing summer holiday. We can’t wait to see what next year brings!
